I’ve been thinking about designing jeans for a long, long time. If you’ve met me at any point in my career, you probably know this. To do it and write a letter about them now is a bit surreal. For months I’ve been looking forward to sharing the news with you – the most supportive community of readers I’ve ever had. Today is the day.
The Only Jane JEANS is a five-piece capsule with three new styles and three washes. Anchoring it all is the Georgia jean, an easy mid-rise with a straight, relaxed leg and slightly tapered hem made of 100% cotton denim. In Vintage Blue, it is my pride and joy.
In my family, “jeans” are everything that is denim, and so JEANS, the capsule, also has shirts and a jacket. The Pier shirt – a mens-y button down with a real, workwear feeling – pairs back to the Georgia as a set. It comes in a wash I call Horizon because of the fade from top to bottom, and in a salty white. I love both versions and prefer wearing them untucked. The Pier Shirt is also a great transitional piece and summertime layer when left unbuttoned.
The third style is a shawl collar jacket I’m calling The Trip because it’s packable and versatile and ready to go anywhere. The shape mimics a sweater, but it functions like a field jacket with big, open front pockets; it is unbelievably soft. Personally, I’ve been wearing The Trip a size up (S when I’d typically be an XS). How it drapes around the neck and shoulders is so pretty.
I’ll do a letter showing you how I fit and wear all of these pieces soon. It feels right today though to start with these lookbook images, which were taken by my longtime friend and collaborator Taylor Jewell. Shooting on the beach during golden hour in Los Angeles is nothing new. And yet, in the ten minutes we had to get the shot, Taylor captured my jeans as I’d never seen them before. I love these photographs. I love that they include the Pacific Ocean. It has always been a symbol of home to me.
Georgia is named for Georgia O'Keeffe, a most deliberate dresser who wore denim and made her own clothes. It's also for my daughter Georgia who is, like this jean, my first. Both are strong people I admire.
JEANS is made in L.A. with the highest quality construction and the best, 100% cotton denim from Italy. It’s designed to last and live in for years and years. I hope you’ll take a look.
Questions about fit and fabric, sizing and styling, leave a comment – I’ll reply. Thank you for liking, reading, shopping, and sharing. Your support, as always, is everything.
Jane

Congratulations! Love the jeans - will you be doing a larger size run?
I bought the trip jacket! I’ve been looking for a jacket to throw on for cold LA morning school drop offs. I wanted something somewhat structured but also cozy. Love the button details. Well done. 👏👏👏
