Is there an easy way to search for jeans by leg opening? I have wide calves and have figured out that I need roughly a 16in knee/leg opening if I want that straight leg 90s fit. Which is HARD to find 🤦‍♀️

Hi Amy, That’s a tough one. Companies don’t typically list that measurement and honestly it’s not one I pay much attention to, either. I’ll have to start considering it!

Thank you! It's so frustrating because 'straight' jeans just look like badly fitting skinny jeans unless they're wide enough to flow down from the knee. And then wider legs are often wider than I'd like. Plus fewer sizes and cuts are available in store and the try/return cycle is brutal (I bought and returned 14 pairs of boot cut jeans last year before finding two that worked!).

I’d love to know which ones worked.

A pair from Pilcro and another one from Rag and Bone but the Rag and Bone sizing is SO weird, I was a 24(??) in some cuts. For reference I'm a UK 10/US 6 and normally a 27/28 in jeans depending on brand.

I’m grateful to hear fashion is weaning the world off of high-rise jeans. At barely over five feet, I can’t pull them off!

Jeans that are “so big they fall down” has been an issue I’ve been endlessly wondering about as well. I delved into the matter and apparently many in the fashion world simply hike them up and secure with a belt. Amy Smilovic of Tibi calls the process “paper bagging” if this is the effect you desire. This way you don’t have to worry about weight fluctuations etc. But I know many disagree with the concept and feel if a belt is necessary, then they’re too big and that’s the end of it! Interesting topic though!

Or what about when wearing a bodysuit or some bulky top, where it’d be uncomfortable to tuck? If jeans fit perfectly around the waist, I find bodysuits so uncomfortable. I’m so happy you brought up this discussion!

The denim adjuster concept is brilliant. Who knew? Thanks for the tip
