I am so sad to report that I do not suit the Ref Wilders! (I wonder if problem is not jeans, but me.) I am desp to try the B-Sides but can’t get my head round the shipping + import charges. Also: welcome to Europe!!!
A few months in Madrid sounds splendid. I own that Rachel Comey sweatshirt in the charcoal/black and wear it all the time. Your roundup of jeans and styling of the jeans you're taking is really fun to see. I'm looking forward to seeing them in Spain.
Thank you! That is immensely helpful, I’m low-key obsessed with the handy pants and may need to treat myself. Also, what yrs were you at vogue? I was there 2013-2017 wonder if we ever crossed paths!
1. Madrid is wonderful, but the cultural differences are real. Despite our homogenised world Old Europe remains different (thankfully!). Embrace bar-to-bar tapas, extremely late eating, afternoon siestas and a general hedonistic, laid back vibe. Spain is a wonderfully free and ideosyncratic society. Visit the Prado early in the morning. Do get to Andalusia for a family road trip, it’s special. These are memories you will all cherish.
2. I am with you on puddle jeans. Just overwhelming unless styled within an inch of life and worn by an Amazonian narrow hipped model. I tried and practically broke my neck on the stairs. The length and proportions of your Bob jeans on you are ideal. Now..to find something in the UK….
Have fun! Excited to hear about Madrid (especially with kids) — my Madrilenean husband is lobbying for us to try it :) (also “vaqueros” or “pantalones vaqueros” both work great!)
Whoooooooooooowowsa! I adore the 504 Japanese selvedge…..such a beautiful wash and love the slight stains so much, the Nili Joan jean, and the Jamie Haller easy jean. I love jeans 👖♥️♓️☕️🤙
Have a great time in Madrid - we spent 4 months in Geneva when my boys were 3 and 5. It was a fantastic adventure, lots of train rides and food and trips and new playgrounds. A little bit hard to be away from family and friends (not always butterflies and rainbows). We still talk about our time there ... enjoy!
Love the R13’s. I may pull the trigger. Also can’t take the Rachel Comey sweatshirt off. It’s a 10/10 purchase.
The R13s are pricy, but the cost per wear adds up.
Hi Jane! What size are you wearing in your Bob jean? Love how subtle the barrel is.
I wear my usual size 24!
Have you tried Rúadh yet?! Looking at the Rhône!
I have the Quinn and love it. Haven’t tried the Rhône but I can vouch for Ruadh’s quality and sophistication.
Yes agreed Jac is the best💙
Oh man. Did I just fall in love with your Rachel Comeys? Uh, yep! Have a blast in Spain!! 🇪🇸
Thank you, Meg!
Elkin/Handy forever!
I’m so glad I found them.

I’m so tempted to smuggle those B Sides in for you!
Let’s take this to email 👀

Isn’t the RC sweatshirt so good? I’m wearing it right now with my Bobs watching the kids at gym. Wish I could take my fish to Madrid!
I want to get a second color of the RC - can't decide which. Suggestions?
Awesome and informative post! As a 5’4” incher myself, do u have recs for wide leg jeans with no stretch?
My go-to is B Sides Elissa. It was one of the 3 jeans I featured in my very first post and I still wear it regularly.
Thanks you and please post from Spain! You are one of my favs!
I’m sure there are jeans to be found there 💙
Love how you style each pair!
Thank you ☺️
Jane—what size of the Rachel Comey do you have? I’m deciding!
Hope your first weeks in Madrid are going well 💛
Sorry for the delay Sara!...I wear a size 0 in the RC Handy Pants.

Omg! Spain! How exciting! Can't wait to hear of your adventures there! Enjoy!
Also....great packing lost!
Fab post. Thank you!
