What a great newsletter (& boy did I love the very in sync denim dressing of your youth!). I think kids over the age of 5 still need elastic in their waistbands - my eldest is 7 and a very capable dresser but for ease of pulling on and off for toileting and her busy, on-the-go activities, elastic it is all the way! Here in Australia, there is a label called Huxbaby (or Huxkid for ages 2+) and they often do incredible 100% denim pieces but with elastic waists and generous fits around the seat. All three of mine have worn (more like thrashed!) their items until holes appeared :)
Jane! Thank you so much for the Huxbaby/kids recommendation. Love. And good to know we'll be in pull-ons for a while longer, that's actually a relief. Thank you for reading.
Love this post, thank you! Can’t wait to click all the links! I started out with a “mom jean” style for my daughter from the Target brand, just to make sure she’d wear it. Need an upgrade soon since she will be 3 in January. Her Levi’s trucker jacket is still fitting (24m) I find the arms to be a bit long so I fold the cuff, but it’s great to throw over a sweatshirt for those foggy California mornings. Seems like I keep inadvertently dressing her like me, haha!
I’ve been so tempted by Slverlake jeans in the past but I’ve never seen them in store and am nervous about the fit. Adding to my list for my next e comm day :)
Love the kids tips. Sending to the parents of toddlers. I didn’t wear jeans until I was a teenager (can you imagine) because my parents are a diff kind of European and for some reason didn’t love denim. But this is great guidance for parents!
"Hard pants" punched my gut hard.

I understand the impulse to dress your daughter like you!
SAME on the "pj day" feelings! If you can believe it, it has continued on into middle school for our school. My kids love it but I'm horrified :)
Pajama Day in middle school. NO. I feel for you Laura! x

I think the Slvrlakes are worth a try! Thank you for sharing the story with your friends, Francesca. x
