No, I’m not going to Vogue. But I am moving to a new space (hooray). And also writing a monthly column for Vogue.com (fun). The former, an exercise that’s been a bit stressful (yes) and exciting (fresh start! More space!), has inspired me to have a sale. Today and all week, the jackets I designed in washed and dark indigo are 50% off. Some jumpsuits are also on sale, including the last of Jump One in denim (size 10; 70% off) and everyone’s favorite Forest (50% off; I never do this). It’s all at the link and savings are automatically applied at checkout.

In addition, I’ll be listing a handful of Sample Sale pieces on my Instagram stories (80% off; final sale). Mostly Ecru jumpsuits and pants that are perfectly wearable, with minor markings or production flaws. Follow me @janepageherman, I’ll start posting today at 12noon Pacific Time.
Next: I’m thrilled to tell you about Jean Files, my new monthly column for Vogue.com. The first installment launched yesterday. (Did you miss it because you were rewatching Tracy Chapman’s performance at the Grammys and all things ‘Fast Car’ all day? Me, too. And her custom Prada jeans!). Anyways, it’s about finding the very best vintage and used denim in Los Angeles and it was a hell of a good time to write. Los Angeles has long been a special place to score some of the world’s best jeans, new and old. I’m happy to report its vintage game is still going strong.

Jean Files: How – and Where – to Score the Best Vintage Denim in Los Angeles, According to [Me ☺️].
KHAITE: Danielle Jean in the Bryce Wash
Quite possibly the most talked about jean on Substack – especially in the app’s Chats, where it seems someone asks for a consensus on whether this jean is worth it ($460-$480, depending on the wash) at least once a week – the Danielle is Khaite’s signature stovepipe.
And? Is it worth it? If you are someone who likes stretch (2%), a high waist (the rise is 11” on a size 25) and legs that neither taper nor flare, plus you need jeans that can do the job of proper pants (think, work jeans), then yes. Danielle is totally worth it. Ditto if your idea of an Everyday style is one to go with hard-soled shoes (a general term I learned from my mother and use for anything that’s not a sneaker). Heel girls, you’ll love these.

I shortened my Danielles – original hem only – to go with these boots. The leg-lengthening effect is lovely, don’t you think? There’s conflicting advice about how to size (some say up), but I took my usual 25. In fact, I tried a 26 and, on me, they became a different jean entirely; wrong. Devoid of any sex appeal. Danielle comes in multiple colors, including this darker Archer wash and black, which may truly be a denim-lover’s answer to dress pants.

The next time you see me, things will look a little bit different (though not so different.) Moving isn’t easy, but I am committed to my business and to taking this newsletter wherever we go. Thank you for following along.
