I am a writer and designer with 20+ years of experience in the fashion industry. I’ve worked at New York Magazine, Elle, Vogue, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and Travel + Leisure. I’ve also worked on the creative teams at classic American clothing companies like GAP and Theory. For years, I was the co-founder and creative director of JeanStories.com, a fashion site about everything denim. Currently, in addition to this Substack, I write a monthly column for Vogue.com called Jean Files. I am also the founder and designer of The Only Jane, an independent, denim-driven clothing line made in Los Angeles.
I was born in L.A. and grew up selling jeans at my family’s Ron Herman stores. After twenty years in New York and a detour in London, I’m now based in Los Angeles, where I live with my husband and our two kids, Georgia and Walter.
