I'm continuing to feel happy and proud of your explorations into the other side. A good way to immerse and learn faster. Read and listen in Spanish simple books you've liked and already. Have read/listened in English. Agatha Christie, Austen, Harry Potter. etc. Watch series in Spanish with subtitles if you want. To get accustomed to the cadence. The music of the language.

I have found people in the farthest corners of the planet learned Spanish by watching our once famed Venezuelan Telenovelas...in Kurdistan or Cambodia. You would particularly enjoy watching Velvet in Netflix. About a Department Store ( a Corte Ingléslike) and the designers, love and drama ensuing. Fantástica!!

I'm looking into Velvet right now. Sounds amazing. I listen to Spanish radio while driving to pick my kids up from school. I can understand it much better than I can speak it at this point. Also – you were so right about the glasses here. But you know what they don't have? Kids Band-Aids. We just never know what the rare thing will be, and it's funny to observe what we thought would be so scarce in hindsight.

Ok, asked my daughter, they’re called “tiritas”. They do have them for kids. Normally in any first aid section, hipermercado or parafarmacia. My granddaughter didn’t really like the kiddie ones. My daughter tells me she bought the ones for sensitive skin as Alba suffers from atopic dermatitis. But they do have them.

It’s amazing, it’s an engrossing super entertaining “soapy” drama, set in the 50’s world of fashion and dept store drama.

It’s always like that. One understands before “daring” to talk. It’s more fear of embarrassment, of not being understood more than anything. But the more you listen, the more your ear and brain and tongue will connect. I’m a kdrama super fan and already understand hangul words and expressions without even looking at subtitles. I’m glad you found super chic glasses.

Learning and challenging the brain is so rewarding. Whether you master Spanish or not, something will stick and your brain will get exercise. X

JANE! you are inspiring me to try again with French! It's sooo hard but I know it's good for my brain.

SO cute that your daughter is learning to read! What a world she has in store for her! and what inspiration for you! Are you cooking in Spain? Is it fun? and I am loving my Josie jackets SOOO much! I am not kidding when I say that they just jump to me when I need just one more thing to make my outfit look cute and finished. How did I live without them?! and all thanks to you I ordered adorable Jamie Haller boat shoes and moccasins the other day! cannot wait! xo

Hi Jane. Wondering if you might consider trying out the new blue tab Levi’s and giving us your thoughts? I’m psyched for their new Japanese denim.

I’ve loved Levi’s since I was a kid when they ran the Travis ad that launched the 501s. It’s probably a bit before your time but there was this cool cowgirl who said, Travis you’re a year too late!

Thx!

GOOD LUCK with the immersion, Jane! My kids are bilingual in French, and my husband and I buy the really basic, baby French picture books to aid in our learning. Super helpful, and my best friend (French) always told me to listen to the radio - but I spaced out honestly - and watch tv shows. Hasn't worked for me, but maybe it will for you:) And... just GO FOR IT!!! GOOD LUCK! xoxox cute shorts and I hope you're having a blast! How was your son's bday?

Thank you, Susan! Baby books is a great idea! My daughter is learning to read right now and I watch her try so hard to sound out words and it reminds me of how hard it is for me to comprehend Spanish in class – and makes me want to try harder. And yes, it's beginning reader-level stuff! I'm trying to keep Spanish podcasts on in the background while I get dressed or do dishes (I space, too, but it must be getting in there a little, no?) Thank you for your note. Your encouragements means so much to me and I hope you are well! x
