I bought my first pair of vintage Levi’s (517’s) in 2018, after I gave birth to 2 babies, and they fit me even better now, and my kids are 14 and 11. They are the best mum jeans I’ve ever owned, so soft and so comfortable. Cheers to you Jane, I now know what that faded white patch on the back pocket is!! The old silhouette of a pack smokes!! Keep up the brilliant work!
Thank you Holly! I love your 517 story. Vintage denim is especially good at withstanding the test of time (and children :) I wish you and your Levi's a long and happy life together!
I love this immensely - having just left my career in fashion in 2008, I fought my way through my twins’ pregnancy determined not to buy pregnancy jeans. my enormous belly flung itself over the button fly - creeping toward my feet as the months passed - until I delivered. But I learned my lesson and along with a new lifestyle, post babies, I allowed myself the grace to wear denim that suited me rather than clutching onto a former fashion aesthetic. As my boys turn 14 tomorrow, I’m thrilled that this approach to style has continued.
I avoided maternity jeans at all costs, too (and maybe shouldn't have)... so much of becoming a mom for me is about accepting what IS v what we want it to be. This applies to clothes, too. Thank you for chiming in Christine!
So beautifully said, Jane. I’m pitching a fashion essay collection at the moment with such sentiment — and the larger notion that what we wear shapes who we are and who we strive to become. Whether it’s a fashion-house employee, single girl in NYC looking for love or a mother of twins (all roles I’ve held), my tales of love, loss and finding myself are told through what I wore.

On my vintage Levi’s it’s often the round shape from a Skoal package!
The Skoal circle is such a cool sign! I've never scored one myself.
Such a beautiful note about softness to oneself. Love this, as usual!
Yes! I was so moved by that part of Malwina's story too.

I'd read that!
What an interesting read! I'm particularly partial to Moussy, but happy to report I also love my vintage 501s I just received from Shopatelier!
Oh I'm so happy you were able to find a pair from Shop Altelier! Thank you for telling me. His selection is one of the best I've seen.
